River Edge War Hero
Doing His Bit Again

Mrs. Marinus DeBree, of River Edge, has received word that her husband has arrived safely “overseas.” He is a Spanish War veteran serving at the battle of San Juan till 1898, and in China and the Philippines, and is now with the 57 th Heavy Artillery, Battery A, “somewhere” in France.

This River Edge hero writes that “every boy was glad to come, and we will show Kaiser Bill how the Yankee boys come through. They will do their bit for Uncle Sam.”

NOTE: In this small article we find out he was in the most famous battle of the Spanish-American War with Teddy Roosevelt leading the charge who became the 25th President of the United States serving two terms from "1901-1905" and "1905-1909"
